Alexander Dash facts for kids
The Alexander Dash was a special type of bus body. Imagine the main part of a bus, like its shell – that's the body! This one was made by a company called Walter Alexander Coachbuilders. They built these bodies from 1991 to 1997.
These bus bodies were designed for "step-entrance" buses. This means you had to step up to get into the bus, unlike some newer buses that are low to the ground. The Alexander Dash was also a "midibus," which is a bus that's smaller than a full-sized bus but bigger than a mini-van.
The Alexander Dash body could be fitted onto two different types of bus "chassis." A chassis is like the frame or skeleton of a vehicle, including the engine, wheels, and steering. The two chassis it used were the Dennis Dart and the Volvo B6.
One cool thing about the Alexander Dash was its front window, also called a windscreen. It could be made in two styles:
- A regular, flat, or horizontal windscreen.
- A unique V-shaped windscreen, which looked a bit more modern and stylish.
