Alexander Arthur Fraser was born on March 8, 1886. He was the oldest son of Alexander Fraser, the 19th Lord Saltoun. His mother was Mary Helena Grattan-Bellew. Before he became Lord Saltoun himself in 1933, he was known as the Master of Saltoun.

Early Life and Education

Young Alexander went to two very famous schools. He studied at Eton College, which is a well-known boarding school. After that, he attended New College, Oxford, a prestigious university.

Military Service

During World War I, Alexander Arthur Fraser served in the military. He was a captain and later an honorary major in a famous Scottish regiment called the Gordon Highlanders. Sadly, during the war, he was captured and became a prisoner of war.

Family Life

On June 8, 1920, Alexander Arthur Fraser married Dorothy Geraldine Welby. They had two children together. Their son, Alexander Simon Fraser, was born in 1921. He was also known as the Master of Saltoun. Tragically, he died in 1944 while serving in World War II. Their daughter, Flora Marjory Fraser, was born in 1930. She later became the 21st Lady Saltoun.

Later Years

Lord Saltoun lived a long life. He passed away at his home in Twickenham on August 31, 1979, when he was 93 years old.
