Becoming the Earl of Home
Alexander Home came from a very important family in Scotland. His father was Alexander Home, who was the 7th Earl of Home. His mother was Lady Anne Kerr.
Alexander Home had an older brother named William. When William, the 8th Earl of Home, passed away in 1761, Alexander became the new Earl. This meant he inherited important titles like the 9th Earl of Home and the 14th Lord Home.

First Marriage
In 1757, he married Primrose Elphinstone. She was the daughter of Charles, the 9th Lord Elphinstone.
Alexander and Primrose had a son named William. William became a soldier and served in a famous army group called the Coldstream Guards. He fought during the American Revolutionary War. Sadly, William was hurt in a battle called the Battle of Guilford Court House and passed away around March 17, 1781.
Later Marriages
After Primrose passed away, Lord Home married his cousin, Marion Home.
His third marriage was on February 10, 1768, to Abigail Browne Ramey. They had two daughters and a son. Their son, also named Alexander, later became the 10th Earl of Home after his father passed away.
