Alexandra Chaves (born May 9, 2001) is a talented Canadian dancer and actress. She is best known for playing the character Piper in the popular TV show The Next Step. This show airs on Family Channel in Canada and CBBC in the UK.

Alexandra Chaves's Career

Alexandra started dancing at a young age. In 2011, she won the "Mini Miss Dance Canada" title. She was also a member of the Toronto Raptors Junior Hip Hop Crew. This is a dance team for young people connected to the famous basketball team.

Alexandra also trained in a special program at the National Ballet School of Canada. In 2016, she joined the TV series The Next Step during its fourth season. She played the role of Piper and is still a part of the show's cast.

As part of her work with The Next Step, Alexandra has helped with Family Channel's "Stand Up!" campaign. This campaign works to stop bullying. In 2017, she toured the UK with her co-stars from The Next Step. They were part of the Disney Channel Big Ticket Concert. In 2019, she toured again with The Next Step in Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.

Alexandra is also a Youth Advocate for Plan Canada. This means she helps speak up for children's rights and equality.

Personal Life

Alexandra Chaves attended St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School. Later, she switched to Virtual High School. This allowed her to continue her acting career while studying.

When she was 12, Alexandra was diagnosed with a heart condition called arrhythmia. This meant she needed to take a nine-month break from dancing to recover. In 2018, she was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. This is a health condition that affects the digestive system.
