Alexandria Anderson (born January 28, 1987) is an American track and field sprinter. She is known for her speed in short races like the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. In 2011, she was the American champion in the 60-meter dash.

Early Life and Starting Track

Alexandria grew up in Chicago and was a talented athlete from a young age. Before becoming a track star, she won four city volleyball championships while attending Morgan Park High School. She started running when she was only six years old, often racing against boys in the streets. This early love for running led her to join a summer track team, and she quickly fell in love with the sport.

College Career and First Big Wins

Alexandria became an amazing college athlete at the University of Texas, where she was an All-American for the Longhorns team. Being an All-American means she was recognized as one of the best college athletes in the country. In 2009, during her final year of college, she won the NCAA outdoor 100-meter race, which is a huge achievement in college sports.

International Competitions and Relay Success

Alexandria has represented the USA in many important international competitions. She often competed in the 4 × 100-meter relay race, where four sprinters work together to carry a baton around the track.

  • At the 2011 World Championships in Athletics in Daegu, South Korea, Alexandria was part of the 4 × 100-meter relay team. She ran the final part of the race in the preliminary rounds, helping her team finish with a very fast time of 41.94 seconds. The team went on to win a gold medal in the final!
  • In 2013, at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics in Moscow, Russia, she helped the 4 × 100-meter relay team win a silver medal.

  • In 2006, she won another gold medal in the 4 × 100-meter relay at the World Junior Championships in Beijing.
