Alexis Ann Shifflett-Patterson (born May 12, 1996) is an amazing American athlete. She is best known as a gold medalist in sitting volleyball. Alexis has represented the United States in many big competitions. She has won multiple gold medals at the Paralympic Games.

Early Life and Discovering Sitting Volleyball

Alexis Shifflett grew up in Waseca, Minnesota. She loved playing sports from a young age.

High School Sports

Alexis went to Waseca High School. There, she played both softball and volleyball. She was a dedicated player for all four years. In her final year, she was chosen as the captain of her volleyball team. This showed her leadership skills.

Finding Her Passion

When Alexis was 15 years old, she found sitting volleyball. This sport quickly became her passion. By the time she was 16, she was good enough to join the national team. This was a huge step for her career.

A Champion in Sitting Volleyball

Alexis has achieved incredible success in sitting volleyball. She has won many medals for her country. Her hard work and talent have made her a true champion.

Winning Gold at the Paralympics

Alexis has competed in the Paralympic Games multiple times. These are major international sports events for athletes with disabilities.

Alexis was born to John and Katie Shifflett. She has two sisters, Natalie and Michaela. Alexis was born with a condition called fibular hemimelia. This meant she was missing some bones in her right leg, including ankle bones and some toes. When she was nine months old, her foot was amputated. This helped her to move more easily.

Life Beyond the Court

On November 27, 2021, Alexis married Alexander Patterson. She continues to be a role model for many young athletes.
