Alexis Vastine's Boxing Journey

Early Career and World Championships

In 2004, Alexis competed in the junior world championships. He won a bronze medal there. Later, in 2007, he took part in the senior world championships in Chicago. Even though he didn't win a medal that time, his performance helped him qualify for the Olympic Games.

Olympic Dreams and Controversial Decisions

2008 Beijing Olympics

At the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, Alexis reached the semifinals. He faced Manuel Félix Díaz from the Dominican Republic. Alexis was ahead in the final round. However, the referee made some decisions that led to points being taken away from Alexis. This was seen as very unfair by many people. Alexis lost the match by a small margin. Even though he didn't reach the final, he still earned a bronze medal for France.

2012 London Olympics

Alexis competed again at the 2012 Olympics in London. In the quarter-finals, he fought against Taras Shelestyuk from Ukraine. The fight ended in a tie on points.
