Alfred Muller (born December 23, 1940 – died November 13, 2020) was a French politician. He was a member of the National Assembly of France from 1993 to 1997. The National Assembly is like the House of Representatives in some other countries.

Alfred Muller was born in Strasbourg, France, on December 23, 1940. He worked as a school teacher and later became a school headmaster.

Early Political Career

In 1971, Alfred Muller started his political career. He became an alderman in Schiltigheim, in charge of sports and culture. An alderman helps run a city. He was elected mayor of Schiltigheim in 1977. Soon after, he joined the Socialist Party (PS). He was re-elected as mayor in 1983.

Alfred Muller was also elected as a "conseiller général" for the Schiltigheim Canton. This is a local government role. He held this position from 1979 to 1992.

National Assembly Member

In 1993, Alfred Muller was elected to the French National Assembly. This is a major part of the French Parliament. He served as a deputy until 1997. When he became a deputy, he had to leave his role as "conseiller général."

Later Years as Mayor

Alfred Muller was very popular in Schiltigheim. He was re-elected as mayor several times: in 1989, 1995, and 2001. He decided to retire from being mayor in 2008.

After leaving the National Assembly, he was elected as "conseiller général" again in 1998. He served until 2004.

Alfred Muller passed away on November 13, 2020, at the age of 79.
