Alhambra is found in the central part of Phoenix. It covers an area that is south of Northern Avenue and west of 7th Street. It also stretches east of 43rd Avenue and north of Grand Avenue or the Grand Canal.

A Look at Alhambra's History

The name "Alhambra" was chosen by a man named William John Murphy. He lived from 1839 to 1923. Mr. Murphy was important because he divided this area into four parts in North Phoenix.

Alhambra was mainly built to provide homes for many people. This happened after World War II, when the population in the area grew quickly. Many people who moved here first discovered the area while they were serving at Luke Air Force Base.
