Ali Nuhu Mohammed (born on March 15, 1974) is a well-known Nigerian actor and director. He is currently the Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed him to this important role in January 2024.
Ali Nuhu is married to Maimuna Garba since 2003, and they have two children. He acts in both Hausa and English movies. People often call him the "King of Kannywood" or Sarki Ali. Kannywood is the Hausa film industry, based in Kano, Nigeria. Ali Nuhu has appeared in over 500 movies and has won many awards. He is seen as one of the most important and successful actors in Hausa and Nigerian cinema.

Early Life and Education
Ali Nuhu Mohammed was born in Maiduguri, Borno State, in north-eastern Nigeria. He grew up in Kano. He went to Dawakin Tofa Science College in Kano. Later, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography from the University of Jos.
He also took special courses in filmmaking. These included studies at the Asian Academy of Film and Television in Delhi, and courses on storytelling and acting for the camera in the United States.
Acting Career
Ali Nuhu started his acting journey in 1999 with the film Abin sirri ne. He became very famous for his role in Sangaya, which was one of the most successful Hausa films at that time.
He has starred in many popular movies like Azal, Jarumin Maza, and Sitanda. In 2007, he won the Best Actor in a supporting role award at the Africa Movie Academy Awards. In 2019, Ali Nuhu celebrated 20 years of being in the entertainment industry. He has acted in around 500 movies.

Ali Nuhu is one of the most awarded actors in Hausa Cinema. He is often listed among the most popular and influential people in Nigeria. He has also been a brand ambassador for many campaigns, including Globacom, OMO, and Samsung. In 2018, he received an honorary doctorate degree from ISM Adonai American University in Benin Republic. More recently, he became an ambassador for Checkers Custard, a cereal brand.
