Ali ibn Isa ibn al-Jarrah facts for kids
Ali ibn Isa ibn Da'ud ibn al-Jarrah (born in Dayr Qunna in 859 – died in Baghdad on August 1, 946) was an important Persian official. He worked for the Abbasid Caliphate, which was a large Islamic empire.
Ali ibn Isa came from a family that had served the Abbasid government for a long time. He became very powerful in the Abbasid court. He served as a vizier, which was like a chief minister or top advisor to the ruler. He held this important job from 913 to 917, and again from 927 to 928. He also had a lot of power behind the scenes from 918 to 923, even when someone else was officially the vizier.
Ali ibn Isa's time in politics was quite challenging. The Abbasid Empire was facing difficult times and starting to decline. His career was often marked by struggles for power with his rival, Abu'l-Hasan Ali ibn al-Furat. This rivalry often led to Ali ibn Isa being sent away from the court.
Unlike his rival, who was known for spending a lot of money and living lavishly, Ali ibn Isa was known for being simple and honest. He strongly opposed corruption, which meant he made many enemies. Even so, people later remembered him as the "good vizier." This was because he was very skilled at managing the government and was known for his honesty.
