Alicia Cazzaniga (1928-1968) was an important architect from Argentina. She is best known for helping to design the National Library of the Argentine Republic. This library is a famous example of modern architecture.

Early Life and Education
Alicia Cazzaniga was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on July 9, 1928. She went to the National University of Buenos Aires. There, she studied architecture with well-known teachers. Some of her teachers included Francisco Bullrich, Eduardo Polledo, and Horacio Baliero.
Starting a Modern Architecture Group
In 1948, Cazzaniga joined with Bullrich, Polledo, Baliero, and others. They created a group called the Organization of Modern Architecture (Spanish: Organización de Arquitectura Moderna). This group focused on a style of building called Rationalism. Rationalism in architecture means designing buildings that are clear, simple, and useful. The group also connected with people from the Bauhaus. The Bauhaus was a very famous school in Germany known for its modern art and design ideas.
Designing the National Library
One of Alicia Cazzaniga's most famous projects began in 1962. She worked with Francisco Bullrich and Clorindo Testa. Together, they created a design for the new National Library of the Argentine Republic. Their design was chosen, and it became a very important building in Buenos Aires.
Alicia Cazzaniga passed away in Buenos Aires on February 28, 1968.
