What is Aliciella?

Why Did Scientists Change Their Minds?
For many years, plants now called Aliciella were placed in the Gilia genus. In 1905, a scientist named August Brand thought some Gilia plants were special. He created the Aliciella genus just for them. But soon after, this idea was not used anymore.
Recently, scientists used new tools to study plants. They looked at the genetic information inside the plants. This is like looking at a plant's secret code. By studying these codes, they found that Aliciella plants are indeed very different from most Gilia plants. Because of this new evidence, they decided to bring the Aliciella genus back.
