Alissa Firsova (Russian: Алиса Фирсова; born 24 July 1986) is a talented Russian-British musician. She is known for writing classical music, playing the piano, and leading orchestras as a conductor.

Alissa was born in Moscow, Russia. Her parents, Elena Firsova and Dmitri Smirnov, were also composers. In 1991, when she was five years old, her family moved to the United Kingdom.

Early Life and Musical Journey

Alissa showed her musical talent from a young age. In 2001, she won a big competition called the BBC/Guardian/Proms Young Composer Competition. She won with a piano piece she wrote called "Les Pavots."

Education and Teachers

Alissa studied at two famous music schools. She graduated from the Purcell School in 2004. There, she focused on both composing and playing the piano. Later, she went to the Royal Academy of Music. She graduated from there in 2009 as a pianist. She also started learning how to conduct orchestras at the Royal Academy.

She had many excellent teachers who helped her become a great musician. Her piano teachers included Tatiana Kantorovich and Stephen Kovacevich. For composition, she learned from people like Jonathan Cole. She also attended special classes with famous composers like Nicholas Maw.

Concerts and Compositions

Alissa Firsova has performed in many important concert halls. In May 2009, she made her debut at Wigmore Hall. This is a very famous place for classical music concerts.

Proms Festival Debuts

In August 2009, she performed at the Proms festival. This is a huge classical music festival in London. She played a piece by Stravinsky called Les Noces at the Royal Albert Hall. This was her debut at the Royal Albert Hall.

The BBC also asked her to write a new piece for the Proms. This piece was called "Bach Allegro." The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra premiered it in August 2010. It was played at the Royal Albert Hall.

Recordings and New Works

Alissa has also released her own music. Her first solo piano CD was called Russian Emigres. It was released by the Vivat label.

In 2015, another one of her pieces was premiered. It was called "Bergen’s Bonfire." The Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra performed it.
