All Saints' Church, Annesley is a special parish church in Annesley, Nottinghamshire, England. It is part of the Church of England. This church is considered very important and historic. It is listed as a Grade II* building, which means it's a particularly significant place with a lot of history.

History of All Saints' Church

All Saints' Church was built in 1874. A famous architect named Thomas Graham Jackson designed it. It was built to take the place of an older church on the Annesley estate. For many years, until 1942, church services were held at both the new and old churches.

Fire and Rebuilding

Sadly, the inside of the church was badly damaged by a fire in 1907. But the community worked hard to fix it. The church was re-opened just two years later, in 1909.

Special Features of the Church

Two of the most amazing parts of the church are its old font and the beautiful East window. The font is a special basin used for baptism. It is very old, dating back to the Norman times, which means it's over 800 years old!

The church also holds a special display of a family's coat of arms. This belonged to Patrick Chaworth, 3rd Viscount Chaworth. It was moved here from the old church in 1874, along with many other old monuments and memorials.

Churches in the Parish Group

All Saints' Church, Annesley, is part of a group of churches. This group works together in the local area. The other churches in this group are:

  • St. Mary the Virgin, Newstead

The Church Organ

All Saints' Church has a large and impressive organ. The National Pipe Organ Register keeps a record of organs across the country. They list this organ as a "three manual instrument." This means it has three keyboards, allowing the organist to play many different sounds. It was built by a company called F. Rothwell from Harrow.

Past Organists

  • William Henry Renshaw was an organist here from 1897 until around 1912.
