A Look at All Saints Church
All Saints Church was built in 1881. It was originally known as a Congregational church. This means it was part of a group of churches where each local church made its own decisions.
Its Early Days
Before this church was built, there was an older Congregational chapel in Grove Road. All Saints Church replaced that first chapel. When it was officially recorded, it was called Junction Road Church.
Unique Design
The church has a very interesting look. It is built in a style called Classical architecture. This means it has features like those found in ancient Greek and Roman buildings. You can see a large portico at the front. A portico is like a big porch with tall columns supporting the roof.
It's quite unusual to see a church built in this Classical style as late as 1881. Most buildings from that time looked very different.

A famous writer named John Betjeman once said that All Saints Church was the only truly good piece of architecture in Burgess Hill. He was known for his love of buildings and history.
Changes Over Time
Like many old buildings, All Saints Church has had some updates. In 1986, the outside of the church was painted. Later, in 2001, the traditional long wooden benches, called pews, were removed from inside the church.
