The Alliance Bank Building is a historic bank building located in Alliance, Ohio. It is a special landmark because it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means it's an important building that helps tell the story of the area.

History of the Alliance Bank Building

The Alliance Bank Company first started in 1872. It operated from a different building for some time. The building you see today at 502 East Main Street was built in 1914. A designer named Lewis W. Thomas created its original plans.

In 1923, the Alliance Bank Company joined with another bank. This new bank was called First National Bank. An architecture company, Walker and Weeks, then added more space to the back of the building. They also updated the inside of the building.

The bank used the first floor for its business. The five floors above it were used as offices for other companies. The building became part of the National Register of Historic Places on July 28, 1995. This made it a protected historic site.

What the Building Looks Like

The Alliance Bank Building has six stories. There is also a three-story addition at the back. This addition looks just like the main building. The building is designed in a style called Italian Renaissance Revival. This style often uses ideas from old Italian buildings.

The first floor and the basement area are covered in sandstone. The upper floors are made of bricks that look like sandstone. This gives the building a grand and classic appearance.
