History of Allison's Pharmacy
This building was built a long time ago, in the 1800s. It was first used as a shop.
In 1890, a man named Joseph W. Allison bought the building. He was a pharmacist, meaning he prepared and sold medicines. He was also a dentist. Mr. Allison changed the building so he could do his dental work there too.
His son later took over the business. The pharmacy continued to operate from this building until at least 1940. However, it stopped being a pharmacy before Joseph W. Allison passed away in 1945.
You can still see some old signs from Allison's business on the building. They are partly hidden by the arcade next door. By 1954, a real estate agent's office was using the building. In February 2017, the building was empty.
