Allison, Missouri facts for kids
Allison is a small place in Nodaway County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is known as an "unincorporated community." This means it doesn't have its own local government, like a mayor or city council, but is instead part of the larger county area.
What is Allison's History?
Allison got its name from an early settler, someone who was among the first people to live in that area. In 1883, a post office was opened in Allison. Back then, a post office was a very important place for a community. It was how people sent and received letters, packages, and news, connecting them to the rest of the world.
However, the post office in Allison didn't stay open for a long time. It closed down in 1901. This often happened when communities changed, perhaps as people moved to bigger towns or new ways of transportation made it easier to get mail from other places.
