The School District of Alma Center-Humbird-Merrillan runs the public schools in the area.

One of the first schoolhouses in Alma Center was on East Main Street. It was later turned into a home.

In 1949, the schools from Humbird, Merrillan, and Alma Center joined together. All high school students then went to school in Alma Center. Over the years, the school building has been expanded and updated many times. For example, a large addition was built in 1968. Another big addition was made in 1975. The original three-story school building was taken down in 1995. In 2011, a big project was approved to rebuild and add more to the school.
