Alpín son of Uuroid (also known by his Old Irish name, Alpín mac Feredaig) was a powerful leader. He ruled as the King of the Picts from 775 until 778. The Picts were an ancient people who lived in what is now eastern and northern Scotland.

Alpín became king in the year 775. He took over after the previous king, Ciniod. Alpín's rule lasted for three years. He died in 778. After his death, Talorgan became the new king.
How We Know About Alpín
Historians learn about old kings from ancient records. These records are called annals. The Annals of Ulster mention Alpín's death. They first said he was a "king of the Saxons." But this was a mistake. Another record, the Annals of Clonmacnoise, correctly named him "Alpin, king of the Picts." This helped historians understand his true role.
