Amal Hijazi (Arabic: أمل حجازي; born on February 20, 1977) is a famous Lebanese singer and actress. She released her first music album in 2001. A year later, her second album became very popular. In 2017, the BBC reported that her 2002 album, Zaman, was one of the top-selling Arabic pop records ever.
She released her first album, Akher Gharam, in 2001. Her second album, Zaman, came out in mid-2002. This album had four hit songs: "Zaman", "Oulhali", "Einak", and "Romansyia". Her third album, Bedawwar A Albi, was released in early 2004. Her fourth album, Baya al Ward, followed in 2006.
In 2007, she released the song "Nefsy Tefhamny". Her fifth studio album, Keef el Amar, came out in 2008. In September 2017, Amal Hijazi announced she was leaving popular music. In December of that year, she released a song honoring the Prophet Muhammad.

Early Life and Education
Amal Hijazi was born in Beirut, Lebanon. Her family is from Kfarfila, a town in southern Lebanon. She has five brothers and sisters. Her father passed away when she was ten years old. During the Lebanese Civil War, she lived in France for ten years. She studied Architecture and finished her studies in 2001.
Music Career Highlights
2000–2003: Becoming a Star
Amal Hijazi's first song, Halan ("Right Away"), was released in 2000. This song helped her become known as a female artist in Lebanon. Her managers asked her to record another song. Her second song, Rayyah Balak ("Put Your Mind at Ease"), came out a year later. She also made a music video for this song. In the same year, her first album, Akher Gharam, was released. The album's main song had the same name. Dilara Master Production produced this album.
In 2002, Hijazi released her second album, Zaman (meaning Long Ago). The song "Zaman" is still considered her most famous song. It was a cover of a Turkish song.
The Jordan River Foundation invited Amal Hijazi to perform a concert. Queen Rania Al-Abdullah supported this event. In 2003, she re-recorded "Zaman" with Turkish singer Bendeniz. They also released a music video for the song.
2006–2008: New Albums and Style
After a break of more than two years, Amal Hijazi released her fourth album, Baya al Ward, in 2006. The album had a different style and look. Hijazi appeared with short, blond hair and a new fashion sense.
In 2007, Hijazi released a new song called "Nefsy Tefhamny". This was a traditional and modern Khaleeji song. In 2008, she released her fifth album, Keef el Amar. This album included the song "Nefsy Tefhamny".
2009–2017: More Music and Important Messages
The second song from her album, "Albi Nadak", was released in 2009. Hijazi said she dedicated this song to motherhood. In the music video, she appeared as a pregnant woman.
Amal Hijazi later released the album Waylak Min Allah. The main song from this album, with the same title, became very popular in Lebanon. The song's story was about betrayal. In late 2011, Amal filmed a new music video for her song "Ba'ayounak Za'al". Another video for the song "Be a'melni" followed in early 2012.
As events in the Arab world changed, Amal released her song "Fen el Dameer" ("Where is the Conscience") in April 2013. The song's lyrics talked about the situation in the Arab world.
Hijazi later took legal action against her music company, Rotana. This was because she felt they did not follow their contract.
2017–Present: Religious Music
Since 2017, Amal Hijazi has focused on religious music.
Personal Life
Amal Hijazi married Mohammed al-Bassam in 2008. They have two children, a son named Karim and a daughter named Lareen.
Image and Style
After her album Zaman came out in 2002, there were rumors about Amal Hijazi having cosmetic surgeries. However, she said she only had one nose surgery. She also said she was careful about having too many procedures.
In 2005, Lebanese designer Joe Raed chose Amal Hijazi to model his new line of wedding dresses. He chose her because of her kind nature and beauty.
