Soon, a record company executive from Univision discovered Amanda. This led her to start her own solo music career. San Diego helped her launch this new path.
First Albums and Big Hits

Some of her songs from this time became very famous. These include Asi No Te Amara Jamas, Él Me Mintió (from 1981), and Mi Buen Corazón (from 1982). These songs are still played on radio stations today.
Taking a Break and Returning to Music
After her daughter, Ana Victoria, was born, Amanda took a break from recording music. She wanted to focus on being a mom.
She returned to the music scene in 1987 with her fourth album, El Pecado. In 1989, she recorded her fifth album, El rostro del Amor. The words for this album were written by Anahi van Zandweghe. The main song from this album was chosen to welcome Pope John Paul II when he visited Mexico.
For her sixth album, Rompecorazones, Amanda tried a new style of music called ranchero. A composer named Federico Mendez helped her choose the songs. The title song became a huge hit.
Later Albums and International Success
In 1996, Amanda Miguel traveled to Italy. There, she recorded Amame una vez más. Anahi also wrote the words for most of the songs on this album. The album was released that same year. It was very popular and sold well in the United States and Latin America. The title song was even nominated for a special award called a Lo Nuestro Award for Pop Song of the Year.
She returned to record another album in 1998. This album, 5 Dias, came out the next year. It included a new version of the song "Así Como Hoy," which Diego helped produce.
In 2005, she released her album Piedra de Afilar. This album had a more modern sound. It also featured a duet between Amanda and Diego called "Siempre Fuimos Dos."
