Gaiman is a town located in the Chubut Province of Patagonia, a large region in Argentina. About 6,627 people lived there in 2010. The town is in the lower valley of the River Chubut, which is called Dyffryn Camwy in Welsh. It is about 15 kilometers (9 miles) west of Trelew.
Gaiman is a very important place for the Welsh settlement in Argentina. This area is known in Welsh as Y Wladfa Gymreig. Many people here still speak Welsh along with Spanish.

History of Gaiman
Gaiman was started in 1874 by a person named David D. Roberts. It officially became a town in 1885.
The Central Chubut Railway
The Central Chubut Railway reached Gaiman in 1908. This train line connected Gaiman to Trelew. Later, in 1914, the Gaiman Train Tunnel was built. This tunnel was part of the railway when it was extended to a place called Las Plumas.
Welsh Culture in Gaiman
Gaiman is famous for keeping Welsh traditions alive. Many people in the area still use the Welsh language.
Eisteddfod Festival
Every September, Gaiman hosts an annual youth Eisteddfod. This is a special Welsh cultural festival where people perform music, poetry, and dance. It's a big celebration of Welsh heritage.
Museums and Teahouses
The Museo Histórico Regional (Regional Historical Museum) is located in the old train station. It tells the story of the Welsh community in the region. The town is also well-known for its many teahouses. These teahouses offer a traditional Welsh tea ceremony and serve delicious Welsh cakes.

There are several Welsh Protestant chapels in Gaiman. The biggest one is called Capel Bethel. These chapels are important places for the community.
Nature and Paleontology
The name Gaiman comes from the language of the native Tehuelche people. It means "rocky point" or "whetstone."
Bryn Gwyn Paleontological Park
Just 10 kilometers (6 miles) south of Gaiman, you can find the Bryn Gwyn Paleontological Park. This park is a great place to learn about ancient life and fossils.
