Amanda Parris is a well-known face and voice on Canadian media. She is an arts reporter and producer for the CBC. She hosts the CBC Television show The Filmmakers. She has also hosted other popular shows like Exhibitionists and From the Vaults.

On the radio, she hosted the CBC Music series Marvin's Room. In 2016, she co-hosted the 2016 Polaris Music Prize ceremony with Tom Power. She also writes a weekly column called Black Light for CBC Arts.

A Talented Writer

Amanda Parris is also a successful playwright. Her first play, Other Side of the Game, was performed in Toronto in 2017. Later, when it was published as a book, it won a big award. This was the Governor General's Award for English-language drama in 2019. Her play was also turned into a three-part podcast in 2021.

She also wrote a short film called The Death News. This film was part of a series called 21 Black Futures. It explored what the future might be like for Black people. Amanda was inspired by radio shows in Grenada that shared news about people who had passed away. She wanted her film to tell important stories that mainstream media might miss.
