The Amarillo Museum of Art is a cool place to see art in Amarillo, Texas. It's located right on the campus of Amarillo College in the state of Texas.

Discover the Amarillo Art Museum
The Amarillo Museum of Art first opened its doors in 1972. A famous architect named Edward Durell Stone designed this special building. Sometimes, people also call it the Amarillo Art Center or the Amarillo Art Museum.
What's Inside the Museum?
This museum is quite large, covering about 32,000 square feet! It's owned by Amarillo College. You can find all sorts of amazing visual art inside. The museum also hosts special days with live music and snacks.
One of the cool parts is the Price Gallery of Asian Art. This is a permanent collection with over 300 art pieces from Asia. Dr. and Mrs. William T. Price from Amarillo collected and gave these wonderful items to the museum. Outside the museum, you can also explore an outdoor sculpture collection on the grounds.
How the Museum is Supported
While Amarillo College helps by paying the director's salary, the museum also gets money from other places. For example, the Texas Arts Commission and different grants provide funding. A special fund was started by Betty Bivins Childers to help make the museum happen. The museum's facilities were even dedicated to her when they opened.
In 2010, the Texas Commission for the Arts gave the museum a $1,500 grant. This money helped with their "Art Smart and Art for All" program. This program brings art experiences to people living in retirement and care homes. The museum is also a member of the Texas Association of Museums.
