Humans and Technology: Are We All Cyborgs?
Amber Case often says that we are all "cyborgs" already. She believes a cyborg is simply a human who uses technology. This technology doesn't have to be inside us. It can be something we hold or even something we think with.
She explains that today, we have two parts to ourselves: a digital self and a physical self. Our digital self is how we appear online. Our physical self is our body in the real world.
What is Calm Technology?
A big part of Amber Case's work is about something called Calm technology. This is a type of technology that works in the background. It doesn't constantly demand your attention.
Imagine technology that helps you without being distracting. Case describes it as technology that "gets out of your way and lets you live your life." In 2015, she wrote a book about this idea, titled Calm Technology.
