Ambrosio Martínez Bustos was born in Granada. He also lived there his whole life. His family was quite wealthy. He learned to paint in the art studio of Miguel Jerónimo de Cieza. Cieza's studio was one of the busiest and most respected in Granada.

Martínez Bustos was first influenced by Flemish painting. This style came from the Flanders region. He learned about it through art prints. You can see this influence in his painting called Inmaculada. This artwork is now at the Museo de Bellas Artes de Granada.

Specialty: Immaculate Conception

His main focus was the theme of the Immaculate Conception. This is a religious idea. He painted many versions of it. You can find his works in several places. These include churches like St. Andrew and St. Cecilio. His paintings are also in the Museum of Fine Arts.
