Early Life and Music Journey

Jussi Sydänmaa was born in Espoo, Finland. He grew up in Mäntsälä. He loved the guitar even before he started school. In 1983, he first heard the band Kiss. Their album Lick It Up made a big impression on him. Jussi was a huge Kiss fan. Sometimes, other kids at school made fun of him for it.

When Jussi was five, he got his first acoustic guitar. He started taking guitar lessons. He really enjoyed learning to play songs he liked. But he was too shy to do a guitar test. This made him stop playing for a while. Ten years later, he picked up the guitar again. He had become very interested in hard rock music.

As a young man, Jussi played in different bands. One band, Rag Flag, seemed promising. But they did not become famous. By age 25, Jussi felt his rock projects were not working out. He decided to study newspaper and radio work. Later, he worked in media communications. In 2001, he earned a degree in media technology engineering.

Joining Lordi

After finishing his studies, Jussi did not work in engineering. He had joined Lordi in the late 1990s. He used the stage name "Amen." Lordi became very famous in 2002. Because of the band's success, Jussi decided to focus on music. He left his engineering work to be a full-time musician with Lordi.

In May 2022, Jussi left Lordi. This happened because of some differences within the band.
