American Bandstand was a super popular American TV show. It was all about music and dancing! The show ran for many years, from 1952 to 1989. From 1956 until its last season, it was hosted by Dick Clark. He also produced the show.
The main stars of American Bandstand were regular teenagers. They would come from the street to dance to the latest Top 40 hit songs. Dick Clark would introduce these songs. Usually, a famous musical artist would also appear live. They would often lip sync their newest hit song. Dick Clark became very famous because of the show. American Bandstand also inspired other great music shows. These included Soul Train and Top of the Pops.
