Aminul Islam, born on December 29, 1963, is a well-known poet and essay writer from Bangladesh. He has written many books, including 23 books of poetry. He has been writing creatively for about 25 years.

About His Life and Learning
Aminul Islam was born in the Chapai Nawabganj District of Bangladesh. He finished his Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) at Rajshahi College. He then earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in social work from the University of Rajshahi. He also got a Master of Social Science Degree from Northern University of Bangladesh.
In 1988, he joined the Bangladesh Civil Service, which is a government job. He has traveled to many countries. These include India, Italy, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Myanmar, Turkey, Australia, Spain, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
His Journey as a Writer
Aminul Islam loved literature, especially poetry, from a young age. He also enjoyed music and songs. He started writing poetry when he was in university. After a break, he published his first poetry book, "Tantra Theke Doore," in 2002.
He continued to write more books. These include "Mahananda Ek Sonali Nodir Naam" (The Name of a Golden River) in 2004. Other popular books are "Shes Hemonter Jochona" (Last Autumn Moonlight) in 2008 and "Kuashar Barnamala" (Alphabet of Fog) in 2009. Readers and critics liked all these books. In 2010, he received the Bogra Lekhok Chakra Swikriti Award for his work.
Aminul Islam writes more than just poetry. He also writes rhymes for children. He writes literary essays and research articles too. By 2024, he had written 23 poetry books. He also published 3 books of child rhymes, 1 essay collection, and 1 research book. In 2021, he won the IFIC Bank Literary Award. This award was for his research on the songs of Kazi Nazrul Islam, a famous poet.
Many famous writers and critics have praised Aminul Islam's poetry. Hasnat Abdul Hye, a well-known novelist, called him an "original poet." He said Aminul Islam created a special language for modern poetry. Poet Khyam Quader noted his unique way of using words. Anjan Kumar Sarkar, a critic, admired how he makes poems easy to understand. Shujayet Ullah, a former director of the National Archives, said his poems mix history and tradition.
Mashiur Rahman, a researcher, highlighted Islam's strong word choices. He said Islam turns everyday words into poetic ones. Sayeed Abubakar, a famous poet, called him a "brilliant modern poet." Aminul Islam is seen as one of the most important poets in Bangladesh. He is known for his special writing style and contributions to literature.
