Ample Hills is a well-known American ice cream company. It was started by Brian Smith and Jackie Cuscuna in 2010. They began by selling ice cream from a small pushcart. The company quickly became famous for its fun and unique ice cream flavors.

About Ample Hills

Ample Hills is an ice cream company that creates many different and interesting flavors. Their goal was to make ice cream that tasted like childhood memories. They often used creative names and ingredients for their treats.

How It Started

Brian Smith and Jackie Cuscuna opened their first ice cream shop in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, in 2011. It was a huge success right away! They sold 130 gallons of ice cream in just four days. Soon, Ample Hills grew into a chain of stores. Most of their shops were in New York City. They even had locations in popular places like Disney World and Los Angeles for a while.

Ups and Downs

Running a business can be tricky, and Ample Hills faced some challenges. In March 2020, the company had to ask for help with its money. This happened because they were losing money from their factory in Red Hook, Brooklyn. They also made some business mistakes.

A company called Schmitt Industries bought Ample Hills for $1 million. Meanwhile, the original founders, Brian Smith and Jackie Cuscuna, started a new ice cream company called The Social in March 2021. However, Schmitt Industries closed all Ample Hills locations on December 19, 2022. This happened because the company couldn't pay its rent and other bills.

What Happened Next

Even after closing, the story of Ample Hills wasn't over. In June 2023, Ample Hills reopened! The original owners, Brian Smith and Jackie Cuscuna, bought the company back. This happened after the company's money was being managed by someone else.

However, by late 2023, the original founders had left the company again. Ample Hills is still operating today, continuing to sell its unique ice cream flavors.
