Anabell Gardoqui de la Reguera (born April 8, 1977) is a talented Mexican actress. She has starred in many telenovelas (Spanish-language soap operas), films, and popular TV shows. You might know her from the HBO series Eastbound & Down and Capadocia, or the Amazon series Goliath. She also played Sister Encarnación in the 2006 comedy movie Nacho Libre.

Early Life and Beginnings
Ana de la Reguera was born in Veracruz, Mexico. Her mother, Nena de la Reguera, was a famous journalist and TV personality. Ana started her journey in the arts by taking classic ballet classes. Later, she studied performance arts at the Instituto Veracruzano de la Cultura. She then moved to study acting at Televisa's CEA in Mexico. She also trained with acting coaches in Spain and Los Angeles.

Starting in Telenovelas
Ana's acting career began with a role in the telenovela Azul in 1996. She then appeared in Pueblo chico, infierno grande (1997) alongside Verónica Castro. For this role, she won an award for best female acting. She continued to star in other telenovelas like Tentaciones (1998) and Todo por amor, earning more awards. She also played María Salome in the telenovela Gitanas.
On Television Shows
Ana has appeared in many popular TV series. In 2014, she joined the cast of the Netflix crime drama Narcos as Elisa.
She played Lorena Guerra in the HBO series Capadocia, which ran for three seasons starting in 2008. This series received good reviews and won awards.

One of her most famous movie roles is Sister Encarnación in the 2006 comedy Nacho Libre, where she starred with Jack Black. She also played Maria, the wife of Sam Rockwell's character, in the 2011 film Cowboys & Aliens.
In 2009, she won awards for her role as Blanca in Backyard, a Mexican crime film. This movie was Mexico's choice for the Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars.
In 2010, she played Josefa Quintana in Hidalgo: La historia jamás contada. Josefa Quintana was a real person who was a mistress of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, a hero of the Mexican War of Independence.
More recently, Ana played Carla in the teen romance movie Everything, Everything (2017). She also appeared in Zack Snyder's zombie film Army of the Dead (2021) and the action movie The Forever Purge (2021).
Other Ventures
Besides acting, Ana de la Reguera has taken on other roles. In 2006, she hosted the MTV Video Music Awards Latin America. She also co-hosted the 2018 Latin Grammy Awards with Carlos Rivera.

Charity Work
Ana de la Reguera is also involved in charity work. In September 2010, she started VeraCruzANA, a non-profit organization. This group helps communities in Veracruz, Mexico, by creating jobs and supporting projects that help the community grow.
In 2017, Ana was the chair of the ONE Children's Foundation. This foundation helped create Los Angeles en Mexico, a movement started by Ana and other actresses like Karla Souza and Kate del Castillo. This movement helped people after the Puebla earthquake hit Mexico in September 2017.
