Analia Llugdar (born in 1972) is a talented composer from Argentina. She moved to Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in 1999. Analia creates both music for instruments and songs for singers. She has won many awards for her amazing music.

Early Life and Learning

Analia Llugdar was born in Argentina. She studied piano at the National University of Córdoba. In 1999, she earned her Bachelor of Music degree there. Later, she moved to Canada to continue her music studies. She first went to Laval University in Quebec City. Soon after, she transferred to the Université de Montréal. At this university, she earned two more degrees: a Master of Music and a Doctor of Music in composition. Some of her teachers were José Evangelista and Denis Gougeon.

Music Career and Awards

Analia Llugdar has won several important awards for her music. She won first prize in the chamber music section of the CBC Radio National Competition for Young Composers. Chamber music is played by a small group of instruments. She also received the Jeunesses Musicales du Canada Award. Another big win was the Grand Prix from the Canada Council for the Arts.

In 2008, Analia won the Jules Léger Prize for New Chamber Music. She won it for her piece called "Que sommes-nous." Another one of her compositions, "Tricycle," was played by a group called Trio Fibonacci. This piece was even included on their 2009 music album, 5 x 3.

In 2010, Analia Llugdar received a grant of $15,000 from the Canada Council. This money helps artists create new works. That same year, her composition "La Machi" was performed for the first time in Montreal.

In 2015, Analia created music for a poem by Frederico Garcia Lorca. The poem was called "Romance de la luna, luna." A singer named Kristina Szabó performed this piece. It was part of the Soundstreams music series in Toronto.
