What Happens in the Story?
A Boring Summer Ahead
Anastasia is looking forward to a very long and boring summer. Her best friend is away at camp, so Anastasia has nothing exciting planned. She really wants to find something to do and earn some money.
A New Job Opportunity
To solve her problem, Anastasia puts an advertisement in the newspaper. She is looking for a job as a "Lady's Companion." She is very excited when an older woman, Mrs. Bellingham, replies to her ad. Anastasia thinks her summer troubles are finally over. She will be busy and make money!
Unexpected Job Duties
However, the job is not quite what Anastasia expected. Mrs. Bellingham needs help with many household chores. Anastasia finds herself polishing silver and serving food. She even has to work as a maid at Mrs. Bellingham's granddaughter's birthday party. This is definitely not what she signed up for!
A Costly Mistake
Things get even worse during the party. Anastasia accidentally drops a piece of valuable silverware. It falls right into the garbage disposal and gets ruined. Now, Anastasia has to use her hard-earned money to pay for the damaged item. Will her summer continue to be a disaster? You'll have to read the book to find out!
