Anders Björler has been a key part of the Swedish metal music scene for decades. He is famous for his unique guitar-playing style and for helping create the melodic death metal sound.
At the Gates
In 1990, Anders and his brother Jonas started the band At the Gates. They were founding members along with Tomas Lindberg, Alf Svensson, and Adrian Erlandsson. The band became very influential in the world of metal music.
In 1995, they released an album called Slaughter of the Soul, which many fans and critics consider a masterpiece. After touring for the album, Anders left the band in 1996, and At the Gates broke up.
However, the band got back together in 2007 for a special reunion tour. They reunited again in 2011 and even released a new album, At War with Reality, in 2014. Anders left the band again in 2017 but made a comeback in 2022, rejoining as the band's guitarist.
The Haunted
After At the Gates first split up in 1996, Anders didn't stop making music. He and his brother Jonas formed a new band called The Haunted. Anders was the lead guitarist and helped shape their powerful sound.
He took a break from the band in 2001 to study film at a university. He returned in 2002 but left again in 2012 to explore other projects.
Solo Music
In 2013, Anders released his first solo album, Antikythera. This album showed a different side of his musical talent. It was inspired by Italian movie soundtracks from the 1960s to the 1980s. The music also blends styles like progressive rock, jazz, and Swedish folk music.
