About Anders Morgenthaler
Anders Morgenthaler studied at the Design School Kolding and the National Film School of Denmark. He worked as a TV host for a children's show called KatjaKaj og BenteBent on the Danish TV channel DR. He also directed many music videos. In 2006, he directed a full-length movie called Princess. This film helped him win the Nordisk Film Award.
His Comic Strip Success
Before his film success, Anders Morgenthaler became famous for his comic strip Wulffmorgenthaler. He created this strip with comedian Mikael Wulff in 2001. They entered a comic strip contest with a comic called Kalzone. They finished it just hours before the deadline. They used the fake name Pernille Richter Andersson for their entry. They won the contest, and their comic strip was published in the national newspaper Politiken for one month.
The comic strip became a regular feature online in 2002 on DR's culture website. In October 2003, Wulffmorgenthaler started appearing daily in the Politiken newspaper. Some readers were not happy with the comic's style. This even caused some people to stop their newspaper subscriptions. But the comic strip stayed in the paper. Later, in 2006, it was also published in the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.
Webcomics and TV Shows
English versions of the Wulffmorgenthaler comic strip are also very popular online as a webcomic. Anders Morgenthaler also created TV shows based on a character from the comic strip. This character is Dolph, a blue hippopotamus. Different versions of the Dolph TV show have been made for DR.
