Andraž Šporar is a professional footballer from Slovenia. He was born on February 27, 1994. Andraž plays as a forward, which means his main job is to score goals. He currently plays for the club Alanyaspor in Turkey and is also a key player for the Slovenia national team.

Andraž Šporar's Club Career
Early Days at Olimpija Ljubljana
Andraž Šporar started his journey in professional football with Interblock. In June 2012, he moved to Olimpija Ljubljana, a well-known club in Slovenia. He quickly became an important player there.
During the 2015–16 season, Andraž was chosen to be the team's captain. He had an amazing first half of that season, scoring 17 goals in just 18 games in the Slovenian PrvaLiga, which is the top football league in Slovenia.
Playing in Switzerland with Basel
On December 8, 2015, Andraž signed a contract with Basel, a big club in Switzerland. He joined their first team for the 2015–16 season.
He made his debut in the Swiss Super League on February 14, 2016. However, just a few days later, he got injured during warm-up before a match. This injury kept him from playing for the rest of that season. Even though he was injured, his team, Basel, won the 2015–16 Swiss Super League championship that year.
Andraž scored his first goal for Basel on April 15, 2017. At the end of the 2016–17 season, he won the championship with Basel for the second time. They also won the 2016–17 Swiss Cup, which is a national cup competition. After playing 26 games and scoring one goal for Basel, he decided to move on.
Loan to Arminia Bielefeld
On June 25, 2017, Andraž Šporar went on loan to Arminia Bielefeld, a club in Germany's second division, for the 2017–18 season.
Success in Slovakia with Slovan Bratislava
In January 2018, Andraž joined Slovan Bratislava in Slovakia. In his first season there, he helped the team win the 2017–18 Slovak Cup.
The 2018–19 season was a huge success for him. Slovan Bratislava won the league title, and Andraž became the league's top scorer with an incredible 29 goals. This number of goals equaled the record for the most goals scored in a single season in the Slovak First League.
Moving to Sporting CP
On January 23, 2020, Andraž Šporar transferred to Sporting CP, a major club in Portugal. He signed a five-year contract. This transfer was a big deal, as he became the most expensive player ever to move from the Slovak Super Liga.
Loan to Braga
On February 1, 2021, Andraž joined Braga, another Portuguese club, on loan for the rest of the 2020–21 season.
Loan to Middlesbrough
In August 2021, he moved to England to play for Middlesbrough on loan. He scored his first goal for them on September 15, 2021, in a 2–0 win against Nottingham Forest.
Joining Panathinaikos
On July 27, 2022, Andraž signed a four-year contract with Panathinaikos, a club in the Greek Super League.
Andraž Šporar's International Career
Andraž Šporar first joined the Slovenia senior squad in November 2016. He made his debut against Malta, coming on as a substitute late in the game.
On September 7, 2023, Andraž scored two goals against Northern Ireland. This achievement made him the tenth player in the history of the Slovenia national team to score ten or more international goals.
In June 2024, Andraž was part of the 26-man Slovenian team for UEFA Euro 2024. This was his first major international tournament, which is a big achievement for any footballer.
Personal Life
Andraž Šporar comes from a football family. His father, Miha Šporar, was also a captain for Olimpija in the past.
Andraž has often said that his dream is to play for Liverpool, which is his favorite club. Liverpool did show interest in him in 2015, but a transfer didn't happen at that time.
