Andrew Ian Cooper is a British chemist. He is a professor of chemistry at the University of Liverpool. He is known for his work in creating new types of materials.

Andrew Cooper studied at the University of Nottingham. There, he earned his PhD, which is a very high university degree. His research was guided by Martyn Poliakoff.
His Work and Research
After getting his PhD, Dr. Cooper worked in several research jobs. He had special fellowships at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. There, he worked with Joseph DeSimone. Later, he worked at the University of Cambridge with Andrew Bruce Holmes. In 1999, he joined the University of Liverpool. He has been working there ever since.
Awards and Recognitions
In 2015, Dr. Cooper became a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS). This is a very important honour for scientists in the UK. It means he is recognized for his amazing contributions to science.
His work is special because he designs and discovers new materials. These include polymers and porous solids. He has created new kinds of materials. For example, he made porous organic polymers. He also made molecular organic crystals that are very porous. His work has changed what scientists thought was possible in this field. He also works with computer scientists. Together, they find new ways to build functional molecular crystals.
In 2017, Dr. Cooper was also chosen to be a member of the Academia Europaea. This is an organization for top scientists in Europe.
