He served as the Prime Minister of Latvia from May 5, 2000, to November 7, 2002. As Prime Minister, he was the head of the government. He is a member of the Latvian Way political party.
Political Career
Andris Bērziņš has had a long career in Latvian politics. He started as a minister and later became the mayor of Riga.
Early Roles
From 1993 to 1994, he worked as the Minister of Labor. In this role, he helped manage issues related to jobs and workers' rights in Latvia.
After that, from 1994 to 1995, he was the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Welfare. As Minister of Welfare, he was in charge of social support, health, and education for the people of Latvia.
