Discovering Andrés Deleito
Andrés Deleito, sometimes called Andrés de Leyto, was an artist from Spain during the 17th century. He worked in Madrid, a big city in Spain. He often painted scenes from history and detailed pictures of rooms.
One of his important projects was painting alongside another artist, José de Sarabia. They worked together on paintings in the cloister of the San Francisco convent in Segovia. A cloister is a covered walkway, often found in monasteries or convents.
Art historians like Juan Agustín Ceán Bermúdez mentioned Deleito in their old books. Sometimes, in older English art books from the 1800s, he was called "Leyto." Even though we don't know a lot about his life, his paintings help us understand art from that time.
