Angel Leonie Coulby (born August 30, 1980) is an English actress. She is well-known for playing the character Gwen (also known as Guinevere) in the BBC fantasy TV show Merlin.

Early Life and Education
Angel Coulby was born and grew up in Finsbury Park, London. Her family background is Afro-Guyanese. She went to Queen Margaret University School of Drama in Edinburgh. There, she studied acting and earned a top degree. In 2000, she received a special award called the Laurence Olivier Bursary.

Angel Coulby first appeared on screen in 2001. She was in an episode of Scariest Places on Earth. Her big break came later that year in the BBC sitcom 'Orrible.
Becoming Queen Gwen in Merlin
Angel Coulby was chosen to play Gwen in the BBC One fantasy series Merlin. Gwen starts as a humble maidservant. She later becomes a very capable queen.
