Angeliki Frangou (born 1965) is a Greek shipowner. She is the chairman, chief executive officer, and a director of Navios Maritime Holdings. She also leads other Navios companies, like Navios Maritime Partners L.P. and Navios Maritime Acquisition Corporation.

Early Life and School

Angeliki Frangou was born in 1965 on the island of Chios, Greece. Her family has been in the shipping business for a long time, coming from the village of Kardamyla. Her father, Nikolaos Frangos, is also a shipowner.

Angeliki has a brother, Ioannis (John), and two younger sisters, Katerina and Maria. Her brother also owns a shipping company. Angeliki and her brother are the fourth generation of shipowners in their family.

Angeliki went to Fairleigh Dickinson University and earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. She then got a master's degree in mechanical engineering from Columbia University.

Leading the Navios Group

Before joining the shipping world, Angeliki worked on Wall Street for a few years. She was an analyst at Republic National Bank.

In 2004, Angeliki raised $200 million to buy a company called Navios. Under her leadership, the Navios Group grew a lot. By December 2014, the Navios Group managed many ships. This included 149 dry bulk carriers, 50 tankers, and 12 container vessels.

Angeliki is known for understanding both money matters and the shipping industry very well. She can talk about how to save fuel on ships or discuss complex financial tools. When asked about women in top shipping jobs, she said that ability is what matters most, not gender.

In 2020, Angeliki Frangou and her team made a big donation. They gave 1.5 million euros to the General State Hospital of Nice. This money helped the hospital get 14 new, fully equipped intensive care units to fight the coronavirus.

Personal Life

Angeliki Frangou has a son named Nikolas and a daughter named Stella. She enjoys going to the opera. She also likes to collect artwork from Greece, the Byzantine Empire, and China.
