Angeliki Frangou (Ancient Greek: Αγγελική Φράγκου) is a Greek businesswoman. She was born in 1965. She is a very important leader in the shipping world. She is the chairman, chief executive officer (CEO), and a director of several large shipping companies, including Navios Maritime Holdings.

Early Life and Education

Angeliki Frangou was born in 1965 on the Greek island of Chios. Her family has been involved in shipping for many generations. Her father, Nikolaos Frangos, was also a shipowner. Angeliki and her brother, John, are the fourth generation in their family to work in the shipping business.

She studied mechanical engineering at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Later, she earned a master's degree in mechanical engineering from Columbia University.

Leading the Navios Group

Before leading Navios, Angeliki Frangou worked on Wall Street. She was an analyst at Republic National Bank for a few years. In 2004, she raised a lot of money to buy Navios.

The Navios Group is a big shipping company. By December 2014, it controlled many ships. These included 149 dry bulk carriers, 50 tankers, and 12 container vessels. Dry bulk carriers transport things like grain or coal. Tankers carry liquids like oil, and container vessels carry goods in large boxes.

Angeliki Frangou is known for understanding both money and shipping very well. She can talk about how to save fuel on a ship. She also understands complicated financial tools. In 2020, she helped her community during a difficult time. She worked with Vangelis Marinakis and ION S.A. to donate 1.5 million euros. This money went to the General State Hospital of Nice. It helped them get 14 new, fully equipped intensive care units. These units were important for fighting the coronavirus.

Angeliki Frangou has a son named Nicolas and a daughter named Stella. Nicolas was christened in Kardamyla, and Stella was christened in Kifissia. She enjoys going to the opera. She also likes to collect artwork from Greece, the Byzantine Empire, and China.
