Angelino Soler's Cycling Career
Angelino Soler began his professional cycling career in 1960. He quickly became known for his strong riding, especially in mountain stages. He rode for several different teams during his career. These teams included Faema, Ghigi, and Peugeot–BP–Michelin.
Winning the Vuelta a España
In 1961, Angelino Soler achieved his biggest victory. He won the overall title of the Vuelta a España. This is a Grand Tour race, similar to the Tour de France. During this race, he also won Stage 6, which was a long ride from Tortosa to Valencia. His team also won a team time trial stage. Winning the Vuelta a España at a young age made him a cycling star.
King of the Mountains in the Giro d'Italia
In 1962, Soler competed in the Giro d'Italia, another major Grand Tour race. He finished 12th overall in the race. However, his climbing ability truly shined. He won the "King of the Mountains" classification. This title is given to the rider who earns the most points on mountain climbs. He won three difficult mountain stages in this Giro. These stages included rides to Panicogliara and Pian dei Resinelli.

Angelino Soler continued to have a successful career after his big wins. In 1963, he finished second overall in the Volta a Catalunya. He also placed sixth overall in the Tour de France that same year. The Tour de France is considered the most famous cycling race in the world. In 1965, he again competed in the Tour de France, finishing 22nd. In 1966, he won the overall title of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana. He retired from professional cycling in 1968.
