Angu Motzfeldt (born 1976) is a talented singer, composer, and songwriter from Greenland. He was born in Qaqortoq, a town in Greenland, and later moved to Nuuk, the capital city. Angu's music has been featured in movies and TV shows. For example, you can hear his songs in the award-winning documentary Eskimo Weekend by Inuk Silis Høegh, and also in the film Nuummioq. Music Career and Achievements
In 2004, Angu Motzfeldt released his very first album, simply titled Angu. It was a big hit in both Greenland and Denmark, selling 5,000 copies in each place. This success earned him a gold record award in Greenland, which means his album sold a lot of copies!
After his first album, Angu moved to Copenhagen, Denmark, to focus more on his music. His hard work paid off when he was nominated for a Danish Music Award in the "New Act of the Year" category. His song "Red Lights" became super popular, reaching number one on MTV's Up North chart, which covers music from Nordic countries. In 2007, he released his second album, called Burning Blue Skies.
Later Life and Photography
Later on, Angu moved back to Nuuk, Greenland. He started to focus more on photography, becoming a professional photographer. However, he didn't stop making music entirely. He continued to work on his songs and was even supported by KODA's Greenlandic cultural funds to help with his music projects.
