Angus Wilson Lennie (born April 18, 1930 – died September 14, 2014) was a Scottish actor. He was known for playing many different types of characters in films and on stage. His acting career lasted for 50 years!
Angus Lennie was famous for two main roles. He played Flying Officer Archibald Ives in the movie The Great Escape. He was also well-known as Shughie McFee in the TV show Crossroads.

Early Life and Acting Start
Angus Lennie was born and grew up in Glasgow, Scotland. He went to school at Eastbank Academy. As a child, he was part of the Boys' Brigade.
He started acting when he was just 14 years old. Even though he was still a teenager, he performed song and dance acts. He was quite small, which helped him be quick and agile on stage.
After serving in the military for a short time, Angus decided to become a full-time actor. He joined a theater company in Perth, Scotland. Later, he worked with other theater groups in Oxford and Birmingham, learning more about acting.
TV Shows and Famous Roles
Angus Lennie is remembered by many for his role as Shughie McFee. Shughie was a cook in the popular TV show Crossroads. Angus played this character from 1974 to 1981.
When Angus left Crossroads, his character Shughie just disappeared from the show without explanation. This led to a funny saying: if a character vanished from a TV show, people would say they were "in the kitchen with Shughie McFee."
One of his first big TV roles was in a comedy series called Para Handy - Master Mariner in 1959. He also appeared in many other TV shows. These included Doctor Who (in episodes like The Ice Warriors and Terror of the Zygons), The Saint, Z-Cars, and Keeping Up Appearances.
Movies and War Films
Angus Lennie's first movie was Tunes of Glory in 1960. He became a successful movie actor, often playing brave Scottish characters. He was especially good in war films.
Some of his famous war movies include The Great Escape (1963) and 633 Squadron (1964). In The Great Escape, he played a character nicknamed 'The Mole'. He also acted in comedies like Petticoat Pirates (1961) and One of Our Dinosaurs Is Missing (1975). He even appeared with famous actor Richard Burton in the film The V.I.P.s.
