Anhui facts for kids
Anhui (pronounced An-hway) is a province located in the eastern part of China. Think of a province like a large state or region within a country. Its capital city is Hefei, which is a very important city in Anhui. The total area of Anhui is about 139,400 square kilometers, which is roughly the size of a country like Greece. In 2017, about 62.5 million people lived there, making it quite a populated area!
Cities and Regions
Anhui is divided into many different areas, mostly big cities and the regions around them. These are called "prefecture-level divisions." Each of these divisions has its own capital city. This helps manage the large population and different parts of the province.
The capital city, Hefei, is the biggest and most important. It's a center for business, education, and transportation. Other major cities include Fuyang, which has a very large population, and Wuhu, which is an important port city along the Yangtze River.
