Anita Briem was born in Reykjavík, Iceland, on May 29, 1982. Her father, Gunnlaugur Briem, is a drummer for the band Mezzoforte. Her mother, Erna Þórarinsdóttir, is a back-up vocalist.

Anita started acting when she was just nine years old. She performed at the National Theatre of Iceland. When she was sixteen, she moved to England. She studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. She graduated in 2004. She even won an award for stage fighting! As a child, she learned hand-to-hand combat. She also trained with different weapons, like the broadsword. Anita is married to actor and director Constantine Paraskevopoulos.

Her Acting Career

In 2008, Anita Briem starred in the movie Journey to the Center of the Earth. She played the main female hero, Hannah Ásgeirsson. This movie was also filmed in 3D. She also had important roles in other films like Dylan Dog: Dead of Night (2011) and Elevator (2011).

Anita also appeared in the second season of the TV show The Tudors. She played Jane Seymour, who was King Henry VIII's third queen. She was replaced in the third season. This happened because she had to attend the premiere and press events for Journey to the Center of the Earth. The dates for the two projects conflicted.
