Aníta Briem was born in Reykjavík, Iceland. Her father, Gunnlaugur Briem, is a drummer for the band Mezzoforte. Her mother, Erna Þórarinsdóttir, is a singer.
Aníta started acting at a young age, performing at the National Theatre of Iceland when she was just nine years old. When she was sixteen, she moved to England to study acting. In 2004, she graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. She even won an award for stage fighting! As a child, she learned hand-to-hand combat and how to use different weapons, like a broadsword.
Aníta's Acting Career
Aníta Briem has starred in several movies and TV shows. In 2008, she played the main female action hero, Hannah Ásgeirsson, in the movie Journey to the Center of the Earth. This movie was also filmed in 3D!
She also had important roles in films like Dylan Dog: Dead of Night (2011) and Elevator (2011).
On television, Aníta appeared in the second season of The Tudors. She played Jane Seymour, who was King Henry VIII's third queen. She was in four episodes of the show.
