Anita Louise (born Anita Louise Fremault; January 9, 1915 – April 25, 1970) was an American actress. She was known for her roles in movies like A Midsummer Night's Dream (1935) and The Little Princess (1939). She started acting as a child and continued for 30 years.

Life and Career

Anita Louise was born in New York City on January 9, 1915. Her parents were Louis and Ann Fremault. She went to the Professional Children's School. This school helps young performers get an education.

Anita started acting on Broadway when she was just seven years old. Her first play was Peter Ibbetson. Soon after, she began appearing in Hollywood films. By her late teens, she was getting important roles. People noticed her beautiful blonde hair and delicate looks.

At age seven, Anita was in the film Down to the Sea in Ships (1922). Her first movie where she was officially credited was The Sixth Commandment (1924). She was nine years old then. In 1929, she decided to use only her first and middle names, Anita Louise.

As she became more famous, she was chosen as a WAMPAS Baby Star. This was a group of young actresses who were thought to be rising stars in Hollywood. Anita was also known for hosting fancy parties. Many famous Hollywood people attended her events. These parties were often talked about in the news.

Some of her successful films include Madame Du Barry (1934) and The Story of Louis Pasteur (1935). She also starred in Anthony Adverse (1936) and Marie Antoinette (1938). One of her most famous roles was in The Little Princess (1939).

By the 1940s, Anita started getting smaller roles. Her movie career slowed down. Some films from this time include Casanova Brown (1944) and The Bandit of Sherwood Forest (1946). Her last movie was the war film Retreat, Hell! in 1952.

In the 1950s, television gave her new chances to act. She played Nell McLaughlin, a kind mother, in the TV series My Friend Flicka. This show ran from 1956 to 1957. She also hosted other TV shows, like The Loretta Young Show and Theater Time. Her very last TV appearance was in a 1970 episode of Mod Squad.

Personal Life and Death

After My Friend Flicka, Anita Louise mostly stopped acting. She was married to film producer Buddy Adler. They married on May 18, 1940. Buddy Adler passed away in 1960. They had two children together. In 1962, Anita married Henry Berger.

Anita Louise died on April 25, 1970, in Los Angeles, California. She was 55 years old and passed away from a stroke. She was buried next to Buddy Adler at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.

Anita Louise has a special star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It is located at 6821 Hollywood Boulevard. This star honors her important work in films.
