Anja Rupel was born on March 19, 1966. She is a famous Slovene pop singer and songwriter. She also works as a radio announcer and journalist. Anja comes from a musical family. Her father, Fedja Rupel, is a flautist and a music professor. Her uncle, Dimitrij Rupel, is a well-known politician and diplomat.

Anja Rupel's Musical Journey
Early Life and Music Beginnings
Anja Rupel loved music from a young age. She played the flute for over ten years. In 1982, she started singing. She became the lead singer for a popular synthpop group called Videosex.
Rise to Fame with Videosex
Videosex became very famous in the former Yugoslavia. The band released four albums. Their first album, Videosex 84, came out in 1983. They performed with other bands like Ekatarina Velika. The group stopped playing together in 1992.
Solo Career and MTV Debut
After Videosex, Anja started her solo career. In 1994, she released her first solo album, Odpri oči (which means Open Your Eyes). She also performed with Laibach. This is a well-known industrial music group from Slovenia. In 1988, Anja sang The Beatles' song, "Across the Universe". She was the first Slovene artist to be shown on MTV. She is currently working on a new album. She is making it with Slovene musician Rudi Štigel.
Beyond Music: Film and Family
Anja Rupel has also acted in movies. She was in the 1987 film Hudodelci (The Felons). This movie was directed by Franci Slak. She also appeared in several other films. On October 11, 2002, Anja had a daughter named Luna. She is with musician and singer Aleš Klinar. He was the leader of a folk-pop group called Agropop.
