Anja Rupel, born on March 19, 1966, is a talented Slovene pop singer, songwriter, and journalist. She also works as a radio announcer. Her father, Fedja Rupel, was a flautist and a professor. Her uncle, Dimitrij Rupel, is a well-known politician and diplomat.

Anja's Musical Journey
Early Years and Videosex
Anja Rupel loved music from a young age. She played the flute for over ten years. In 1982, when she was 16, she became the lead singer for a popular synthpop band called Videosex. This group quickly became famous across the former Yugoslavia.
Videosex released four albums. Their first album, Videosex 84, came out in 1983. They performed with other big bands like Ekatarina Velika. The group continued making music until 1992.
Solo Career and New Music
After Videosex broke up, Anja Rupel started her solo career. In 1994, she released her first solo album, Odpri oči, which means Open Your Eyes. She also performed with Laibach, an internationally known industrial/techno music group from Slovenia.
In 1988, Anja Rupel sang The Beatles' famous song, Across the Universe. She was the first Slovene artist to be featured on MTV, a major music television channel. More recently, she has worked on new music with Slovene musician Rudi Štigel.
Acting and Family Life
Besides music, Anja Rupel has also acted in films. She appeared in the 1987 movie Hudodelci (The Felons), directed by Franci Slak. She also had roles in several other films.
On October 11, 2002, Anja Rupel became a mother to a daughter named Luna. She is with musician and singer Aleš Klinar. Aleš was the leader of a folk-pop group called Agropop.
